In France, it is illegal to name a pig Napoleon. This law was put in place to protect the honour of the country’s former emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte.

In Denmark, it is illegal to start a car without first checking for sleeping children underneath. While this law may seem strange, it was put in place to prevent tragic accidents.

In Australia, it is illegal to wear hot pink pants after midday on a Sunday. This law, which is specific to the state of Victoria, was put in place to prevent offensive clothing.
