Meet Bob Marley - His Story Deon Sowobi

Starting from the Bottom, What Does this Mean? – Olori Boye-Ajayi

Olori Boye-Ajayi sat down with Breakfast Connect to talk about seeing an opportunity, taking advantage of it and putting in the work to see it through. Olori, who founded the Katie Wang Company over a decade ago, talks about the difference between knowing how to multiply money and knowing how to run a business. She urged small businesses to put as much effort into service delivery as they do into making or acquiring the physical product.
“I remember going to banks on Kofo Abayomi, (Victoria Island, Lagos). I’ll put my truck out there and the (female staff) will come around during their lunch break. I will drive the truck by the way. I didn’t have a driver. So, I was really hands-on”, she says.
She continues, “There’s something about bending your back in the beginning. (Making sales) is not all by skill. Sometimes it’s just doing the work and you’ll get the reward later.”
Olori is also the co-founder of the Ark Coaching Company which began as a need for people who are stuck-in-a-rut in their business. She clarifies, “It’s not a mentoring programme, because unlike a mentor, a coach gets the job done.” According to her, participants are admitted on a referral basis. The reason is because she says “not everbody can go through the process of unlearning.”
