🚫 Why Nigerian food exports are rejected due to chemical residues ⚠️ Is Your Food Poisoned? Dangers of Pesticides in Nigeria: The shocking health impacts of pesticides: cancer, kidney failure, reproductive issues, and more Farmers Awareness & Safety: Over 80% of surveyed Nigerian farmers and traders are unaware of the health implications of chemicals they apply on farm produce, soil and human health. Most of them do not read product labels for several reasons, including: language barriers or lack of access to instructions. Additionally, over 90% of farmers surveyed do not use Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs). Prevalence of (Highly Hazardous Pesticides) HHPs: More than 50% of registered pesticide products in Nigeria are classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs), meaning they have severe impact on human health, animals and the entire environment. As HHPs are non-degradable, they last in the soil, water and human body for a long period of time.
