“Being a Property Consultant is about taking care of people,” says Amara Musa, the Chief Operating Officer of Wren Regent Properties Limited. Speaking during our morning show, Breakfast Connect, Mrs. Musa noted that the effect of coronavirus on the real estate industry has been on the desires and direction of the investment choices of clients. She however noted that real estate will always be in demand because shelter remains a necessity either for residential or commercial use. The COO also spoke on the Federal Inland Revenue Service’s directive on stamp duty collection for rent and leases. She said, “Property Consultancy is about taking care of people. It is important to focus on what the right issues are. Collecting tax on rent should be addressed. However, there are bigger issues. There are buildings collapsing on people but what we are thinking about is how to collect more money from them. I think (stamp duty on rent) is important, I just don’t think it’s a priority. Let’s focus on building regulations compliant with standards, health and safety.”
